Bird Watch Observations Log
Here are some previous bird sighting logs:
December 6 2019 We saw a many crows and several house sparrows. we filled the bird feeders.
APRIL 4
We saw starlings, crows, sparrows, mourning doves, blue jays and many American Robins. Warm 60 degrees and damp.
March 3
Thanks to all of the scholars who came out for March Bird Watching. We saw American Robins, a Mourning Dove, many American Crows and several House Sparrows.
February - Cold and rainy. Spent time inside watching videos about birds. Practiced using binoculars in the halls.
January 8 - Saw 120 American crows, 14 American Robins and many European Starlings. Beautiful sunrise at 7:24am and we also saw Jupiter and a cresent moon!
December - We saw American Crows, a few Black Capped Chickadees and 15 European Starlings. We also filled the courtyard bird feeder. The weather was dry and just a bit cool. Sunrise at 7:09.
November 2015- We saw so many birds!!!! The temperature was 58 degrees F, no wind and very humid. We saw: house sparrows, European sparrows, Dark-Eyed Junco, American Crow, Blue Jay, American Robin, Mourning Dove, Carolina Wren, White Throated sparrow, northern Mocking Bird, Rock Pigeon, Ring-Billed gull,
October 2015- We saw crows and house sparrows. It was windy and wet.

June We saw 10 species of birds including a red-eyed vireo, chimney swifts and robins. Surprisingly we only heard one crow. (the American crow is usually our most seen bird...nesting?)
February 6 Saw crows, seagulls, house finch and some type of hawk.
January 9... Cold and windy. We say a few crows, house finch, and a few other fly-bys. Spring is a few months away.
December 5 - Shut out!!! We heard crows in the ravine but did not see any birds at the feeder. We had fun.
November 7 - Last week our Bird Watch was rainy and cold so we stayed inside. We viewed birds at the bird feeder from inside the Museum Room. We saw many House Finches and a few crows flying overhead. We began making an Albany Bird Watcher Guide.

October 3, 2014 -- We saw: yellow-bellied sap sucker, american crows, pigeons, house sparrow.

Bird-Watch Observations for 2013-14
6-6-14 June Bird Watch was well attended, weather was warm and dry.
We saw: american robins, a song sparrow, crows, mourning doves (in the garden) and 2 Northern Cardinals.
We also saw a rabbit!!!
Our May Bird Watch 5-2-14 was well attended and fun. We
saw a male house finch, several crows (of course), house sparrows and many
robins. Only one more bird watch left!
April Bird Watch
We saw american crows, robins,
ring-billed gulls, european
starlings,song sparrows, house sparrows, and
Canada geese. 100's of birds in total.
March Bird Watch!!! (3-7-14)
We saw:
9+ seagulls (on their way somewhere)
american crows (as usual)
1 Blue Jay (also, one dead Blue Jay...PREDATOR?)
4+ American Goldfinch
February Bird Watch was fun. Snow covered. We watched videos of thousands of european starlings flying in formation and used binoculars in the hallway. Thanks for coming out!
2014 January Bird-Watch Cold and light snow. Saw over 100 crows. Played indoor bird game...FUN!!!
2013 December Bird-Watch
We had fun today. We saw many squirrels (as usual) and a few crows. We played a bird spotting game in the upstairs hallway.

Another great bird-watch. Thanks for getting up so early. Today we saw a roost of crows totaling over 1,000. We were there when they were begining to take off for the day. They"ll be back tonight I"m sure.

MARCH BIRD-WATCH
March 1, 2013 ...We had a fun morning and we were
joined by a special visitor from the State Museum. We looked at three ruby-throated hummingbirds in the lab.
2013 APRIL BIRD-WATCH
This picture of a cardinal was taken in the backyard of one of our bird watchers later that day.
April 12, 2013...A little cool and wet but ofcourse we had a good time. We saw (and heard) a few robins and we noticed that the crows were not around. The american crows are now mating and making nests. They don"t want to be seen so they are keeping quiet!
2013 MAY BIRD-WATCH
A busy time of year for our feathery friends!!! We saw over 10 species this morning. Mr. K. from the museum and his son went on their own private hike and they saw many species as well.
